How To Stop Drinking For Good - Discover Amazing Steps To Quit Drinking Beer

If you are ready to quit drinking alcohol call a rehab facility today to reach sobriety forever

If you have a serious drinking problem medical supervision in a detox facility may be the safest option for you. There are no locks on the door at a detox center so if you want you have  freedom to go back home. The provisions at a center for rehabilitation could range from camp-type settings to the most luxurious facilities you can imagine. Not all facilities for rehabilitation have a detox withdrawal center and you will have to go through  withdrawal process at a different place. The core component of all treatment and rehab programs is education. Often there are group sessions in rehab that are designed to teach you  value of seeking support from others who are going through  same challenges. Some rehab programs incorporate family members and friends throughout  whole rehab procedure (quit drinking liquor easily). If you family is involved they may attend meetings to learn how they may have been enabling you and contributing to the problem with their actions to your abuse of alcohol. The standard stay in rehab is for one month during which you are in a structured environment. After your rehab there is usually an aftercare program that may include residence at a halfway house.

Distance yourself from influences that may cause you to drink or abuse alcohol

Occasionally there will be people who will try to lure you to drink.  Distance yourself from people who don’t support your efforts to quit drinking.  To avoid peer pressure to drink try to purge alcohol from your existence. Stay away from people who give you a hard time about not drinking. Avoid places or events that make you want to drink. Be a social butterfly when you are in alluring environments so that you can keep your mind off the alcohol while socializing.  If you cannot avoid a situation where alcohol is served have a virgin drink instead. If you have to go to a bar to meet up with someone pick a place with the distractions of darts or billiards. The most practical advice to give up drinking is to get rid of all beer in your home. Find another route home from your job if you are used to getting a drink after work.

Herbal remedies may also be used to reduce your craving for beer and other drugs. Try St. John’s Wort to replace mild depression with a state of calmness. For detoxifying your liver and cleaning your blood try milk thistle or burdock root.  Kudzu root has been used by traditional Chinese doctors to reduce  appetite for alcohol.  Supplements such as zinc can help improve the state of an alcohol-damaged liver.  Alcohol use may increase  body's load of free radicals but you could battle them with antioxidants like zinc and selenium.  Thiamine levels need to be restored during rehabilitation which can require injections of  vitamin. Disulfiram is a medication that will produce a negative physical reaction when you drink but it will not remove the compulsion to drink (how to stop drinking alcohol on your own). Try a medication like Naltrexone or Acamporsate to reduce your urge to drink and help combat beer cravings.  Vivitrol is like naltrexone but could be injected once a month by a health care professional.

You don’t have to settle for mainstream support groups as there are many others. There are groups that focus on self-liberation in tackling beer addiction such as Secular Organizations for Sobriety which is also known as SOS. SOS is similar to AA in that it is a network of independent meetings with a recovery method. Unlike AA  practices of SOS maintain that sobriety is a separate issue from religion or spirituality. There are more choices for secular support groups such as Self-Management and Recovery Training. Similar to SOS this program known as SMART Recovery focuses on self-directed change. SMART Recovery is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy which is a psychotherapeutic approach that addresses dysfunctional emotions and maladaptive behaviors like beer abuse (how to stop drinking for good). CBT is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on  idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors instead of external situations like people or events. The role of a CBT therapist is to listen and encourage while your role is to express your concerns  and implement what you learn.
